Basic Life Support (BLS) Renewal
Date/Time: Fri 1/16/2026 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM
Location: NEMSA - Covington
Class Price: $25.00

This course is for students with a current BLS Provider card who need to renew. Proof of valid, American Heart Association BLS Provider card will need to be provided before the course. Students with an expired BLS Provider card will need to take the BLS Initial Course.

Students must have a book during the course. If you do not have a book, you will need to purchase one for $18. 

After completing this course, students will be able to 

  • Describe the importance of high-quality CPR and its impact on survival
  • Describe all of the steps of the Chain of Survival 
  • Apply the BLS concepts of the Chain of Survival 
  • Recognize the signs of someone needing CPR 
  • Perform high-quality CPR for an adult 
  • Describe the importance of early use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Demonstrate the appropriate use of an AED
  • Provide effective ventilation using a barrier device
  • Perform high-quality CPR for a child 
  • Perform high-quality CPR for an infant 
  • Describe the importance of teams in multi rescuer resuscitation 
  • Perform as an effective team member during multi rescuer CPR
  • Describe the technique for relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for an adult, child, and infant. 
You are required to have the current textbook (2020 guideline) for this course. If you already own one or have access to one before, during, and after the class, you do not need to purchase one here. Please choose from the following optional items:

Claiming your eCard is easy, just follow these steps! 

1. You will receive an email from ecards@heart.org with a link inviting you to claim your eCard online. If you do not receive this email, check your Spam and Junk folders.
2. You will be directed to the Student Profile webpage. 
3. Confirm that your information is correct, then set up a security question and answer to access your eCard in the future. 
4. Accept the terms and conditions and click Submit. 
5. Fill out a survey of your AHA course. 
6. You can print or save your card! 

 

Please note that if you do not claim your eCard, you will not be able to show proof of course completion to your employer. Only you can claim your eCard, it cannot be claimed by someone on your behalf.
